SPECIAL CALLED MEETING CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - OCTOBER 23, 1998
The Jonesboro City Council met Friday October 23, 1998, at 7:00 a.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: Mayor Brodell, and 7 council members. Those members were: Kelton, Crockett, Rorex, Perrin, Rega, Davis, and Province. Councilman Tate, Pratt, Young, Bowers, and Roddy were unable to attend. The minutes are typed according to the Mayor’s Assistant, Larry Johnson who took minutes in the absence of City Clerk, Donna Jackson.
Mayor Brodell explained the purpose of the called Special Meeting was to discuss the dirt bid on Joe Mack Campbell Park. Four bids were submitted: Meadows Construction for $546,000, Cameron Construction for $379,981.25, Law’s Construction for $420,000, and Reason Construction for $275,700.00.
Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Rega to accept low bid meeting bid specifications of Reasons Construction Company for $245,700. A voice vote was taken with all members present voting aye. Those voting aye were: Kelton, Crockett, Rorex, Perrin, Rega, Davis, and Province.
Mayor Brodell informed Council he would also be requesting additional funds to be placed in the parks budget to help move the project along.
Councilman Perrin thanked Councilman Rega for the work he had done on this project and said it was one that needed to be done.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:23 a.m.
