AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.954 PROVIDING FOR CHANGE IN ZONING DISTRICT BOUNDARIES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that Ordinance No.954, known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro, be amended as follows; as recommended by the City Planning Commission:

 

Section 1: The zoning district boundaries are hereby changed:

 

(1) From R-1 to R-3 an area bounded by Matthews Avenue on the North, Hester Street on the East, Farrell Street on the West, and the City Limits on the South.

(2) From residential to I-1, a part of Lot 5 in Block “E” of Nesbitt’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Southwest Corner of said Lot 5, thence East 42 ½ feet; thence South 85 feet; thence West 42 ½ feet; thence North 85 feet to the point of beginning.

(3) From residential to C-3, lots 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 of Block 3 of Wilson’s Second Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

(4) From R-2 to I-1, a strip of land along the North boundary of Block 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Cobb’s Survey to Jonesboro, Arkansas more particularly described as being that parcel of land between the Cotton Belt Railroad and East Matthews Avenue, and from Caraway Road East approximately one quarter mile to join the existing I-1 zoning.

(5) From R-3 to I-1 of Lots 11 and 12 of Block 1 of Sloan’s Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that certain construction which would further the best interest of the City is being delayed pending the foregoing changes in zoning district boundaries and this Ordinance being necessary to preserve the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and adoption.
