A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO PARTNER WITH THE ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT: JOB 101135 - PLEASANT VIEW DRIVE - PEACHTREE AVENUE (JONESBORO) (S)

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro (City) and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (Department) have identified the need to widen Highway 351 from Pleasant View Drive to Peachtree Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Department has programmed a project to widen this section of Highway 351; and
WHEREAS, the City has requested that the project include a 10-foot wide sidepath with a 6-foot green space on the west side of the Highway 351; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees to provide the additional funding necessary to incorporate this sidepath into the project; and
WHEREAS, the City further agrees to provide all future maintenance for this sidepath; and
WHEREAS, the Department has agreed to the request with the understanding that any additional costs will be the responsibility of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Department will oversee all phases of the project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION I: The City will participate in accordance with its designated responsibilities in this project.
SECTION II: The Mayor, or their designated representative, is hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite implementation of this project.
SECTION III: The City pledges its full support and hereby requests that the Arkansas Department of Transportation initiate action to implement these improvements.
