RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND ACCEPT THE 2013 COPS HIRING GRANT

Whereas, the City of Jonesboro was awarded the COPS Hiring 2013 Grant in the amount of $500,000 with a local match requirement of $196,388, for a total award of $696,388; and
Whereas, this grant will fund 4 School Resource Officers' salaries and benefits for a 3 year period for Jonesboro Schools; and
Whereas, the City of Jonesboro has an agreement with Jonesboro Schools for the schools to provide the full local match for this grant award.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into agreement with the Department of Justice to accept the 2013 COPS Hiring Grant for $696,388 for 4 SROs for a 3 year period; and
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
