Minutes for the City Council meeting on August 1, 1955

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in regular session on the above named date in City Hall at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, Mr. McGowan acting City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Hamilton, Stricklin, Fritz, Snow, Copeland, Hart, Johnson and Keister. Absent: Hendrix, Powell.
Mr. Hamilton made the motion, seconded by Mr. Keister, that the three firemen who attended school in Little Rock be allowed $15.00 each for lodging. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton, that the Mayor investigate the drainage situation between Buffalo and Cobb and report back to the Council. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Johnson made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hart, that the following men be appointed by the Mayor as a committee to start the work of planning the City Hall. Neil Thayer, Joe Barrett, R.H. Patton and the Council Building Committee. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Hamilton made the motion, seconded by Mr. Keister, that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. Roll called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Hamilton offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION TO CLOSE ALLEY IN NESBITT’S FIRST ADDITION
Mr. Snow then made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton, that the resolution be adopted as read. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1955:20.
There being no further business Mr. Hamilton made the motion Council adjourn, Mr. Copeland seconded the motion. All aye. Council adjourned.
