Minutes for the City Council meeting on February 20, 1956

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in regular session on the above named date in the City Hall. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Keister, Fritz, Fields, Copeland, Stricklin, Powell, Snow, Hamilton and Hart. Absent: Johnson.
The application for a vegetable market on the corner of Highland and Madison Extended was heard. Mr. Jim McDaniel representing the Chamber of Commerce and a number of property owners in that vicinity represented themselves. Action was delayed until the next regular meeting.
Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Fritz, that the Fire Chief be allowed up to $50.00 for expenses to go to the Fire Convention in Memphis. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Keister made the motion, seconded by Mr. Powell, that $3,000.00 plus interest be paid on the note to Mr. Eugene Sloan. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Hamilton made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hart, that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Mr. Hamilton made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hart, that Council adjourn. All aye. Council adjourned.
