AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF POLICE EQUIPMENT FOR POLICE UNITS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION 1:  That the Police Department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase Police Cars which are equipped for street use.

 

SECTION 2:  That Cavanaugh Ford of Black Rock, AR has the state bid on police units and have secured a contract with NLR-fleet Safety Equipment, Inc. to equip police units with all equipment needed to make the police units street ready.

 

SECTION 3:  That unit prices, attached and made part of this ordinance, are priced as listed and will be billed through the purchase of the police unit through Cavanaugh Ford.

 

SECTION 4:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described for the prices set forth in Section 3 above.

 

SECTION 5:  It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire this equipment and the timeframe in takes to receive the units along with the additional savings from sales tax and bulk purchasing, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of January, 2007.
