AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE REFURBISHMENT OF THE NEW PARKS DEPARTMENT BUILDING

WHEREAS, the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas did by Resolution 09:143, approve the transfer of City property (located at 4600 E. Highland) to City Water & Light, for and in consideration of the transfer by City Water & Light of property located at 3009 Dan Avenue and $80,000.00 cash; and,
WHEREAS, the property at 3009 Dan Avenue is to be used as offices for the Parks Department and the Cemetery Sexton; and,
WHEREAS, City finds it necessary to refurbish the property, requiring expenditures of approximately $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 in improvements to the premises to provide proper working space to City personnel;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The 2010 budget of the City be amended to provide for up to $80,000.00 in monies to be allocated from the General Fund, to fixed assets and expenditure line items as necessary for the proper refurbishment of the property at 3009 Dan Avenue, also known as the new Parks Department building; and,
SECTION 2: It being necessary that the finances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas be efficiently administered and accounted for, and whereas this ordinance is necessary for the proper execution of contractual obligations, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
