CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 19, 1976

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, July 19, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. there were present, Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and the following named aldermen: Sanderson, Bridger, Burns, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Hinson, Haggenmacher, Johnson Hannah and Darling. Absent: Bowers.

Harold Ray, minister of the Nettleton Baptist Church gave the invocation.

Ronda Etter, representing a group of teenagers, gave to council a petition containing 682 names of persons interested in the teenagers having a place to park their cars without being arrested for loitering. The Mayor suggested that the Parks Committee be giving the petitions for their suggestions.

Residents from Owens Street advised council of their drainage problem and Mr. Burns suggested that Mr. Joe Moore bring his recommendations to council at the next meeting.

The following ordinance was on first reading and offered by Mr. Stricklin.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A LEASE AND AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AS LESSOR AND ARKANSAS AERO, INC., AS LESSEE IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE FORM AND WITH THE CONTENTS SET FORTH AND MADE A PART OF THE ORDINANCE: AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF THE LEASE AND AGREEMENT: PRESCRIBING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

Mr. Darling moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on 2nd reading, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, all voted aye. After the ordinance was read, Mr. Darling moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on 3rd reading, seconded by Mr. Hinson, all voted aye. Mr. Minx then moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Hannah. All voted aye and the ordinance was given #1517.

The following ordinance was on 1st reading and offered by Mr. Stricklin.
