The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, January 20, 1969, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Dr. Bowers, Young, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Williams and Knight. Absent: Johnson and Bill Bowers

Mr. Knight moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that a trailer permit be granted to Mr. Calvert located at 403 North Rogers. Number of trailers, 2. All members present voted aye and the motion was carried.

The Mayor and Chief of Police will investigate the possibility of a 1-way around West School.

Mr. Pardew moved with Mr. Stricklin that the Fire and Police budget be accepted. All aye and the motion carried. Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Young seconding the motion that the Street and Sanitation budgets be accepted. All aye and motion carried. Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the General Budget be accepted. All aye and the motion carried.

Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the City request that the telephone company set up an emergency phone #911 for all emergency calls. All voted aye and the motion was carried.

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pardew seconding the motion that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. All voted aye and the motion carried.

Mr. Darling moved with Mr. Young seconding the motion that bids be asked for a new street sweeper. All aye and motion carried.

The Mayor appointed the following committee to study the proposed incorporation of the property, known as Shady Park, and bring back a recommendation of action for the Council to take concerning the incorporated town. Dr. Bowers, Mr. Young and Mr. Darling.

Mr. Darling moved with Mr. Stricklin seconding the motion that bids be asked on 5 new police cars. All voted aye and the motion was carried.
