City Council Minutes - February 3, 1992

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Present were the Mayor, City Clerk, and all the Alderman, The City Attorney was unable to attend.

The minutes of January 20, 1992, were approved as mailed by motion of Mr. Hinson seconded by Mr. Mays, All voted aye.

Item 5 on the agenda was taken first Mr. Evans offered a resolution setting a public hearing in the matter of vacating and abandoning Brentwood Lane, Brentwood Cove West and Brentwood Cove East. The public hearing was set for 7:15 P.M. on February 17, 1992. Mr. Evans moved, seconded by Mr. Strauser. All voted aye. The resolution was given number 1992:05.

The following ordinance was on second reading:

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE TRAFFIC PLAN PRESENTED BY THE METROPOLITAN AREA TRAFFIC AUTHORITY FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO FOR FUTURE PLANNING OF STREETS, ROADWAYS AND TRAFFIC REGULATIONS, & FOR THE CREATION OF A PERMANENT METROPOLITAN AREA TRAFFIC AUTHORITY TO OVERSEE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUCH PLAN.

Mr. Brodell offered a word of welcome and requested everyone who wished to address the Council concerning the traffic proposal to register on a sign-up sheet made available by the City Clerk. It was also requested that only the traffic proposal be discussed, and to limit comments to three minutes.

The following nineteen (19) individuals addressed Council in opposition to the traffic proposal:
