AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF RADIO EQUIPMENT FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

BE IT ORDAINED   by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That the Police Department needs to purchase radio equipment, specifically 5 (five) complete Motorola 800 MHZ Mobile Units for immediate use.

 

SECTION 2: Those radios may be purchased from Motorola Communications and Electronics for the sum of $15,838.60.

 

SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby  waives  the  requirement  of  competitive  bidding and directs the  Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described equipment for the price set forth in Section 2 above.  Said amount shall be paid from the Fixed Asset line item in the Police Department.  

 

SECTION 4: It  is  further  found  that  due  to  the  immediate  need  to  acquire  radio equipment for the Police Department, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary  for the preservation of the  public peace,  health and safety  shall take effect from and after its approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of January, 1991.
