AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR ENGAGING LENDERS TITLE COMPANY TO IDENTIFY ALL CITY-OWNED REAL PROPERTY AND TO OBTAIN ASSESSED OR ESTIMATED VALUATIONS AND DEEDS FOR SUCH PROPERTY,

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to obtain professional services for the identification of all city-owned real property and to obtain the assessed or estimated valuation and deeds for such properties; and

 

WHEREAS, Lenders Title Company of Jonesboro has the professional real estate expertise to provide these services; and

 

WHEREAS, funds for the services have been appropriated in the 2005 Annual City Budget, line item 01-100-217-00, and

 

Whereas, the estimated cost of these services is $50 - $275 per parcel of real property, for a total estimated cost of $15,000

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED as follows:

 

SECTION 1: That a contract for the services is deemed to be not feasible or practical to be placed for public bids and therefore public bidding for provision of those services is hereby waived.

 

SECTION 2: That the Mayor upon proper authorization by the city council is hereby empowered to enter into an agreement with Lenders Title Company for provision of said services at a cost not to exceed $15,000

 

SECTION 3: It is hereby found and declared that an emergency exists and that this ordinance, being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
