AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF E-9-1-1EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That the Police and Fire Departments need to purchase the following equipment for the 9-1-1 Center and other emergency communications from Motorola to remain compatible with existing equipment.

 

(1)  E-9-1-1 Answering Equipment

(2)  Radio System for Fire Department

(3)  Mobile Data System for Police Department

 

SECTION 2: That such equipment may be purchased from Motorola Communications, Inc.  for the sum of $6,683.90 monthly on an 84 month Lease/Purchase Agreement.

 

SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A.  14-58-302 (2) (B),  hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described equipment for the price set forth in Section 2 above.  Said amount shall be paid by money from the 9-1-1 Surcharge Budget.

 

SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the above equipment,   an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 1991.
