CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - AUGUST 5, 1991
The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Present were the Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and all Aldermen.
The minutes of July 15, 1991, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Hannah, seconded by Mr. Nix. All voted aye.
Mr. Hannah offered the following ordinance for first reading of:
AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR FIFTEEN (15) MINUTE PARKING SPACES ON THE WEST SIDE OF CARSON STREET FROM CREATH TO MONROE: TO BE POSTED AND MONITORED BY THE CITY COLLECTORS OFFICE
Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to suspend the rules and place on second reading. All voted aye.
Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to further suspend the rules and place on third reading. All voted aye. Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton for the adoption of the ordinance with the emergency clause. All voted aye. The ordinance was given number 2351.
An ordinance to provide funding for the Mayor’s committee on alcohol and drug abuse was tabled.
The following ordinance was on third reading:
ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 6.08.11. CLAIMING IMPOUNDED ANIMALS
Mr. Mays offered an amendment to the ordinance correcting the legal language and not affecting the content. Mr. Hinson moved seconded by Mr. Mays to adopt the ordinance with the emergency clause as amended. All voted aye with the exception of Mr. Evans who voted nay. The ordinance was given number 2352.
The following bids were up for review:
91:32 - Crack Filler Material - Street Department
Mr. Mays moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin to accept the low bid meeting specifications. All voted aye.
91:33 - Yellow and White Paint - Street Department
Mr. Mays moved, seconded by Mr. Evans to accept the low bid meeting specifications. All voted aye.
91:34 - Guard Rail - Street Department
Mr. Mays moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to accept the low bid meeting specifications. All voted aye.
