Members present: Jim Hargis, Tim McCall & Bill Roddy
Motion made by Alderman Roddy to approve the minutes of the last two Parks subcommittee minutes. Alderman Hargis seconded and all voted to approve.
Royce Leonard briefly discussed the letter from AEDQ regarding the scheduled public hearing for the proposed Jonesboro Class 4 Landfill. AEDQ will receive comment on the draft permit for the City to operate a new Class 4 Landfill. A legal notice appeared in the Jonesboro Sun Feb. 9th, 2003.
Leonard discussed Bid# 2003.04 (Trash Containers). He said 720 containers were ordered in June of 2002 and the department has less than 100 left. Leonard said appx. $33,000 has already been appropriated to purchase more containers. After discussion, Alderman Roddy moved to accept the bid from the Schaefer Company, per letter dated June 3, 2002, which Schaefer agreed to a contract extension for a price of $36.63 for the 95 gallon containers, good until 5-31-03. Alderman Hargis seconded motion and all voted in favor.
Leonard discussed Bid# 2003:05 (Commercial Sanitation Truck). He indicated Downing Sales #2 bid met specifications with low bid of $90,146.24. Alderman Roddy moved to accept low bid meeting specs. Alderman McCall seconded and all voted to approve.
Bill Ebbert complimented Mr. Leonard on his departments painting of Ebbert’s dumpster.
Alderman McCall requested of Leonard and Steve Kent that committee members receive any bid specifications which will require a committee decision at least a few days before the actual vote, rather than getting them at the meeting where the vote is taken. Both indicated that would be no problem.
