AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDS AND PURCHASE BRIDGE PANELS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF WEST COLLEGE BRIDGE BY THE STREET DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the city is in need of bridge panels and hardware for the Street Department to replace the West College bridge; and

WHEREAS, there is only one known source for the panels required including the hardware; and

WHEREAS, the price for the purchase from Forterra Pipe & Precast at the cost of $56,058.70; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

SECTION ONE:  The council finds that there is only one available source for this product and hereby waives competitive bidding and authorizes the Mayor to purchase said panels.

SECTION TWO: The City Council further finds and declares that an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the bridge replacement, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
