CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, MAY 2, 1983

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, May 2, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and all aldermen.

The minutes of April 18, 1983, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Hannah, seconded by Mr. Sanderson, all aye.

Mayor Stallings explained to the council that Mr. Don Gilbert has requested to purchase land in the Jonesboro Industrial Park. The Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce has requested that the council raise the price of an acre of land from $5,000 to $6,000 per acre. Mr. Sanderson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Park, to have the Industry Committee look into the request and to work out details and to report back to the Council.

Mr. Mays moved, seconded by Mr. Blevins, to approve a mobile home at 1811 Henry Street. All voted aye.

Mr. Park moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, to allow the Jonesboro Jaycees to make improvements to the Fairview Park provided that the Jaycees shall retain options to repurchase all equipment placed on the site by the organization for a fee of $1.00. All voted aye.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ABANDONMENT OF REAL ESTATE SHOWN TO BE STREETS AND PUBLIC AREAS ON THE PLAT OF INDIAN PLAINS MOBILE HOME PARK IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, WITHIN THE LIMITS THEREINAFTER MORE FULLY DESCRIBED; PROVIDING FOR CONVEYANCE THEREOF TO METHODIST HOSPITAL OF JONESBORO, INCORPORATED; PROVIDING FOR THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE ABANDONMENT AND CONVEYANCE MADE HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF PUBLICATION FEE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Nix moved, seconded by Mr. Sanderson, to lease a tract of land between Wal-Mart and Woodsprings Nazarene Church for $10.00 per year. The lease is to contain a “Hold-Harmless” clause. All voted aye.
