RESOLUTION ALLOWING THE CITY TO APPLY FOR AN EXTENSION TO CONTINUE OPERATING THE CLASS IV LANDFILL

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is applying for a Class IV landfill extension located adjacent and to the east of the existing Class IV landfill, for the purpose of disposing of non-putrescible wastes; and
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Landfill disposes of Class IV wastes from all of Craighead County including the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, no threat of pollution to the City of Jonesboro exists because of the disposal of Class IV materials by the method requested in their permit application.
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has accepted the siting of the landfill, and accordingly issued their host community approval for the referenced site as required by Section 22.205 of ADEQ Regulations No. 22.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas adopts this resolution allowing the City of Jonesboro to apply for an extension to continue operating the existing Class IV Landfill at the current permitted location, with an extension to the east.
