CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARY 1, 1976

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, March 1, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and the following named aldermen: Bowers, Sanderson, Bridger, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Hinson, Haggenmacher, Johnson, Hannah, and Darling. Absent: Burns.

The following ordinance was on third and final reading:

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON PARTS OF WOODROW AND FORREST STREETS: AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Darling moved for the adoption of the ordinance, to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Hannah. The ordinance was then read by the City Attorney and all members of Council voted aye. The ordinance was given #1486.

The following ordinance was on third and final reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN PARTS OF WOODROW AND FORREST STREETS AS NO PARKING AREAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Sanderson moved the ordinance be tabled until the mayor can obtain information from people living on these streets. Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson. Roll call voting aye, Sanderson, Hinson, Johnson. Voting nay, Bridger, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Haggenmacher, Hannah, Darling. Passing, Mr. Bowers. Motion failed. Mr. Hannah then moved that the ordinance be adopted to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Smith, with Mr. Johnson casting the only descending vote. The ordinance was adopted and given #1487.

The following ordinance was on third and final reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A FEE SCHEDULE FOR ITEMS SUBMITTED TO THE METROPOLITAN AREA PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

Mr. Hannah moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Darling with all members of Council voting aye. The ordinance was adopted and given #1488.
