RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, EXTENDING A MORATORIUM FOR APPLICATION FOR, CONSIDERATION OF OR APPROVAL OF R-2A OR R-3 REZONING CLASSIFICATION REQUESTS

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro has determined that a need exists to extend the time for review, consideration and adoption of amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance to provide for the separate single-family and multi-family zoning classifications.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

1.                     A moratorium is hereby declared on the application for, consideration of or approval of R-2A or R-3 rezoning classification requests for a period not to exceed 45 days beginning on the date this resolution is passed.

 

2.                     During this moratorium period, an ordinance or ordinances providing for separate single-family and multi-family zoning classifications without creating a taking of property rights by the city regarding property currently zoned R-2A or R-3 are to be prepared by city staff, reviewed by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and adopted by the City Council.

 

3.                     This resolution shall take effect immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 4th DAY OF OCTOBER, 2004.
