A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN EXCEPTIONAL SITUATION AND WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR WORK ON A FIRE DEPARTMENT TRUCK

WHEREAS, the 2006 Pierce Pumper Truck’s engine was damaged while in use, and,
WHEREAS, the Siddons-Martin Emergency Group of Conway, AR, an authorized dealer of the fire truck brand, agreed upon the work to be performed for the price of $42,473.88 after tearing down the engine.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO THAT:
Section 1: An exceptional situation exists requiring the waiving of the conditions of competitive bidding to rush repairs on emergency equipment so that it may be placed back in service with the Fire Department to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Jonesboro. Competitive bidding requirements are hereby waived, with the City and repair shop agreeing on the price of repairs.
Section 2: Said expense will be paid from the Fire Department vehicle repair line item.
