A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE AD HOC MAYOR’S STRATEGIC TASKFORCE ON PUBLIC TRANSIT.

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade and future growth is projected to continue at a steady pace.
WHEREAS, a need for some mode of public transportation has been identified and should be addressed through proper planning and organization.
WHEREAS, the most efficient method for accomplishing these goals is through a committee of various stakeholders in a public transportation system.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS that the AD HOC MAYOR’S STRATEGIC TASKFORCE ON PUBLIC TRANSIT is hereby established, with an expiration of six months from today, for the purpose of studying the feasibility of establishing a system of public transportation within the City of Jonesboro and that the committee shall in a timely manner make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council concerning the organization and funding of such system, working with the City of Jonesboro Community Development Director/Grants Coordinator.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS that the following individuals be appointed to the AD HOC MAYOR’S STRATEGIC TASKFORCE ON PUBLIC TRANSIT:
3 Citizens at large (Scott Davis, Flo Jones and Austin Lewis)
2 members representing NEAT (Dr. Charles Coleman and Kevin Hodges)
2 Jonesboro City Council Members (Cecil Province and Ann Williams)
1 Representative of Arkansas State University (Dave McKinney)
1 Representative of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce (Cari White)
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 5th day of April, 2005.
