A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO UTILIZE 49 U.S.C. SECTION 5307 URBANIZED AREA FORMULA FUNDS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (USDOT), FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA); AND, AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE FY2021 49 U.S.C SECTION 5307 URBANIZED AREA FORMULA GRANT, FOR THE JONESBORO ECONOMICAL TRANSIT SYSTEM (JET)

WHEREAS, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is the FTA designated recipient of the 49 U.S.C Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Grant and the City of Jonesboro AR a direct recipient of this grant through ARDOT; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro AR was allocated $934,329 in Section 5307 formula funding for JET in Fiscal Year 2021; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Grant funds are available during its allocated fiscal year plus five additional years and must be applied for and obligated or the funds will be returned; and,
WHEREAS, JET requests $467,165 in Section 5307 formula funding with a 20% local match of $116,791 for preventative maintenance, paratransit operations and camera systems; and,
WHEREAS, JET requests $467,165 in Section 5307 formula funds with a 50% local match of $467,165 for general operations.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council pledges its full support for the submission of an application for the FY2021 Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Grant to USDOT-FTA.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the grant application.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the FY2021 Section 5307 Urban Area Formula grant application.
