CITY COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 5, 1980

 

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. Present: Mayor, City Clerk City Attorney and the only council member absent was Mr. Bridger.

 

The minutes of April 21, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Mays, seconded by Mr. Shelton.

 

Mr. Hillis Pratt addressed council concerning contracting with the City to haul trash. Mayor recommended that the sanitation committee meet with Mr. Pratt and make recommendations to council.

 

The following ordinance was on 3rd reading.

 

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE #954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS BY CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

Mr. Park moved for the adoption of the ordinance to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Shelton. All voted aye. The ordinance was given the number 1721.

 

The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:

 

AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON AN ALLEY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

 

The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:

 

AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION OF ALDERMEN BY WARDS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

On motion by Mr. Stricklin, authority was given for an ordinance to be written recommending traffic control on Westacre Drive.

 

Mr. Hinson moved that T.V. Wallis be authorized to proceed with demolition of the Headstart Building located on East Washington at no cost to the City.

 

The following bid was reviewed for side loaders:

 

Hawkins Equipment                      Option #1                     $45,064.00

                     Option #2                     41,612.44

 

Mr. Cameron advised council that action on the units would be deferred for two weeks.

 

There, being no further business, council adjourned.
