RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE PROPERTY FROM MARY O. SPURLOCK FOR WIDENING OF EAST STREET

WHEREAS, traffic demands require the eventual widening of East Street between Monroe Avenue and Washington Avenue, and the need therefore constantly increases due to the necessity of providing a better passageway to the Post Office and to the City Water & Light Plant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro owns all of the property lying on the East side of East Street between Monroe Avenue and Washington Avenue, except the property owned by Marion Street and Mary O. Spurlock, the acquisition of this property by the City is necessary for the eventual widening of East Street.
NOW, THREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council finds it to be of benefit to the City and the Citizens of Jonesboro to purchase the following described real property for a price of $17,500.00, said property lying in the City of Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas, and belonging to Marion Street, to-wit:
The South 12 ½ feet of lot 5 and all of lot 6 in Cobb's Survey of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 18, Township 14, Range 4 East.
And the following described real property belonging to Mary O. Spurlock located in Jonesboro, Craighead, County, Arkansas, for the purchase price of $18,500.00, to-wit:
The West 100 feet of Lot 7 in Cobb's Survey of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 18, Township 14, Range 4 East.
The Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized and directed to pay for in the amounts stated above, and accept the deeds to said properties on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, as described above.
