AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE THE CITY ATTORNEY AN INCREASE IN SALARY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereby established a salary for the City Attorney’s office in the amount of $7,200.00, to become effective May l, 1976.

 

Section 2: That in order to provide for the increase in the City Attorney’s salary, an additional charge of $2.00 shall be levied in all prosecutions tried by the City Attorney and said levy shall constitute an item of the Court Costs.

 

Section 3: All sums of money collected by the Collectors Office as a result of the additional $2.00 charge shall be placed in the General Revenue Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to be used as directed by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

Section 4: It is hereby found by the City Council that the work load of the City Attorney’s office is steadily increasing and that the salary presently provided for the City Attorney is not sufficiently adequate to compensate the City Attorney for his service. Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
