RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO ACKNOWLEDGING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FROM CITY WATER & LIGHT TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO BE USED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL LAMPS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Water & Light Plant provides electrical energy to operate traffic signal systems without charge to the City of Jonesboro; AND

 

WHEREAS,  LED technology traffic signal lamps are more energy efficient than the incandescent lamps currently used by the City of Jonesboro and has a useful life that is several times greater than the incandescent lamps; AND

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro recognizes the need to conserve energy with the operation of its traffic signals and also reduce its maintenance of the traffic signals.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION 1.  The City of Jonesboro hereby affirms to the Jonesboro City Water & Light Plant that we will replace the incandescent lamps with the LED lamps in all traffic signals within the City of Jonesboro.

 

SECTION 2.  The City of Jonesboro is committed to completing the replacement of the traffic signal lamps within twelve (12) months of receiving funds for the LED lamps.

 

SECTION 3.  The City of Jonesboro will to continue to install and maintain the LED lamps at all new and existing traffic signal locations, including those installed by the City of Jonesboro and the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and/or their designated representatives.
