A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO UTILIZE FY 2014 TIGER VI DISCRETIONARY GRANT FUNDING FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT:  RAILROAD CORRIDOR HIGHWAY CROSSING PLAN

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro was selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation to received FY 2014 TIGER VI Discretionary Grant Program funding; and
WHEREAS, the funding will be utilized to conduct an environmental review and provide preliminary design or a railroad overpass on Highway 18 as part of a comprehensive action plan to improve rail grade crossings with the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is willing to handle all phases of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro understands Federal-aid funds, up to a maximum of $1,200,000, are available for this project at the following federal participating ratios:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION I:  The City will participate in accordance with its designated responsibilities in this project and will provide 100% of any costs over the maximum available Federal-aid share ($1.2 million).
SECTION II:  The Mayor, or his designee, is hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the development of this project.
SECTION III:  The City pledges its full support and hereby authorizes the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department to initiate action to implement this project.
