RESOLUTION LEVYING A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE POLICEMEN’S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND

WHEREAS: The fully, qualified, constituted and acting board of Trustees of the Policemen’s Pension and Relief Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, have enacted and caused to be certified to the City Clerk of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a resolution of findings that the sum of $7,262.17 is necessary to discharge functions of said board during the year 1957 and
WHEREAS: The City Council doth hereby approved said aforementioned resolution and certificate, and
WHEREAS: The City Council doth hereby find that the total assessed valuation of property both real and personal within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the sum of $7,262,177.00, and
WHEREAS: The City Council doth find that in order to raise said sum of $7,262.17, it is necessary to levy a tax of one (1) mill per dollar of assessed valuation and that the amount to be raised by said tax will not fully cover the certified needs of said board of Trustees.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro:
(1) That there be and there is hereby levied on all real and personal property within the City of Jonesboro, a tax of one (1) mill on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal property lying and situated within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the year 1956, to be collected in the year of 1957, and that the funds realized therefrom be devoted to the purposes set out in the Policemen’s Pension and Relief Acts and Ordinances.
(2) That the County Clerk of Craighead County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas, be and the same is hereby authorized and directed to extend said taxes herein described upon the tax books and that the same be collected in the same manner as other property taxes are collected.
