AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A SINGLE UNIT GFI GENFARE SYSTEM FOR JETS.

WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Jonesboro Economical Transportation System has a need for a single unit GFI Genfare System to be installed on the JETS Para-transit mini-van;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to purchase a single unit GFI Genfare System for the Transportation Department to be used by a City vehicle to meet operational needs for fare collection.
SECTION TWO: Said equipment may be purchased from GFI Genfare, which integrates completely with the system that is currently in operation, for the sum of $11,600.00, plus applicable sales tax and freight, to be paid from the Fixed Asset Fund, Transit line item. This is the same company that the original contract for fare collection systems was awarded to.
SECTION THREE: The City Council in accord with the terms of Ark Code Ann. § 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section Two above.
SECTION FOUR: It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance, being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
