AN ORDINANCE TO TRANSFER THE FINANCIAL DUTIES OF THE OFFICE OF CITY TREASURER TO DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That the fiscal and financial duties of the office of City Treasurer of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby transferred from the City Treasurer Office to the Department of Finance and Administration and those duties will specifically not be assumed by the City Clerk’s office and shall not be included under the duties of the office designated as City-Treasurer.

 

Section 2: All fiscal and financial matters which in the past have been supervised by the office of City Treasurer shall hereby be transferred to the Department of Finance and Administration and the custody of all funds which were under the supervision, possession, and control of the City Treasurer, shall be transferred to the Department of Finance and Administration and be supervised by that Department.

 

Section 3: That all ordinance’s, or parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 4: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the combining of all financial and fiscal matters in the Department of Finance and Administration will greatly enhance the fiscal responsibility of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and that this control is needed in order to provide sound fiscal management for the City of Jonesboro, and that, therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of July, 1976.
