MAPC MINUTES
AUGUST 9, 1979
The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met Thursday, August 9, 1979 at 7:30 P.M. in the Court Room at City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Ralph Morrison, Chairman.
Members Present: Morrison, Cooper, Ball, Tilton, Gott and Freeman
Members Absent: Smith Brown and Scott.
Others Present: Mike Cameron, Roy Douglas, Brenda Barnes and Bob Trout.
Minutes for July were read and approved. Items for business were as follows:
Item #1 J. Curtis Brown and Kathryn Brown requests a zoning classification of Commercial Three (C-3). Subject zoning classification prior to the subject property being annexed to the City. The MAPC is asked to prepare a written statement as to what effect the Annexation would have on the City accepting such lands. The property is described as follows: The west 273 feet on the north 301.900 feet of the north, Range 4 east, subject to right-of-way for public road 20 feet wide off the east side thereof; also subject to an easement of 30 feet along the west side of the tract for a county road and an easement of 30 feet along the north side thereof for Race Street. The general location of this property is south of Race Street and west of Curtview Acres and east of Fairfield Road.
Mr. Tilton made a motion to deny request, seconded by Mr. Cooper. Reason for denial was based on MAPC’S previous position on limiting commercial zoning in that area to that which already exists. The Commission felt that additional Commercial zoning is not needed in that area. Voting aye, Cooper, Tilton and Gott, voting no, Ball and Freeman. REQUEST DENIED.
