RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY FROM WILLIAM AND SHERIE MARIOTT

WHEREAS, an agreement was reached between the City of Jonesboro and Mr. William J. Mariott in February of 2003; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Committee recommended the purchase of the Mariott property contingent on obtaining the Yarbrough right-of-way located off Southwest Drive; and
WHEREAS, the Yarbrough right-of-way has been obtained and the City of Jonesboro desires to purchase 0.80 acres from Mr. William J. Mariott more particularly described as follows, to wit:
Commencing at the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 2, Township 13 North, Range 3 East in Craighead County Arkansas and run S. 89º34’20” E, along the North boundary of said Northwest ¼ of SE ¼ of said Section for 1314.57 feet more or less; thence run S. 0º12’42” W. for 600.00 feet more or less to the South boundary of a tract of land deeded to William J. Mariott and wife Sherie Mariott for a point of beginning; thence run North 65’38’18” W. for 303.69 feet to the East ROW of US Highway 49; thence run along said ROW as follows; N 22º36’04” E. for 46.6 feet; N. 43º12’51” E. for 65 feet more or less to a point where the North ROW of a proposed road interests the east ROW of US 49; thence run S. 65º38’18” E. for 231.0 feet more or less to a point on the east boundary of the NW ¼ of the SE ¼ of Section 2, Township 13 North, Range east; thence run South along said east boundary for 129 feet more or less to the Point of Beginning 0.80 acres more or less.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, THAT:
1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute all documentation necessary for the purchase price of $39,500.00;
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to record the Warranty Deed with the Circuit Clerk’s Office.
