ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3040 AND ORDINANCE NO. 3051

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, has previously established a Police Officers Bill of Rights covering the City's police department by adoption of  Ordinance No. 3040; and
 
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, amended the provisions of Ordinance No. 3040 to delete the position of Police Chief and replace it with the position of Director of Public Safety; and
 
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, now desires to amend the provisions of Ordinance No. 3040 and Ordinance No. 3051 to delete the position of Director of Public Safety and replace it with the position of Chief of Police.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that:
 
SECTION 1: The position of Director of Public Safety is deleted and replaced with the position of Chief of Police; and
 
SECTION 2: Ordinances No. 3040 and No. 3051 are amended in accordance with this Ordinance; and
 
SECTION 3: If any provision of this ordinance is determined to be unlawful or unconstitutional, that said illegality or said unconstitutionality shall not be taken as to provide only one provision and the rest and remainder of said Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
