The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in regular session Wednesday night, November 13, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bowers, Ledbetter, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight.

The following ordinance was on the third and final reading:

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING PORTIONS OF RAINS STREET AND COBB STREET AS ONE WAY STREETS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Copeland seconding the motion that the ordinance be amended to read “only when school is in session and when portable signs are properly displayed”. On calling the roll, all voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Young seconding the motion that the ordinance be adopted as amended. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Pierce moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that the emergency clause be adopted. All voted aye and the motion was carried. The ordinance was given the number 1215A.

Mr. Knight offered the following resolution and moved for its adoption with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion. All voted aye and the motion carried.

RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 5 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TO CARRY ON THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO

The resolution was given the number 1968:31.

Mr. Pierce offered the following resolution and Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. All voted aye and the motion carried.

RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR A PUBLIC CITY LIBRARY TAX

The resolution was given the number 1968:30.

Mr. Stricklin offered the following resolution and Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. All voted aye and the motion carried.
