Minutes for the City Council meeting on July 10, 1961

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark. met in regular session at City Hall, Monday night, July 10, 1961, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Griffin, Field, Smith, Brewer, Snow, Perry, Cook, Brickell, Copeland and Ebbert. Absent: City Clerk, Sammons and Kenward.
Mr. Brickell moved with Mr. Smith seconding the motion that under Ordinance No. 956, the trusteeship of the City Hall bonds be transferred to the Mercantile Bank. Roll was called. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brewer that the Fire Department be authorized to purchase 1500 feet of 2 ½ inch fire hose and 800 feet of 1 ½ inch hose at $1.50 and $1.22 respectively. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Brickell offered the following Ordinance and placed it on the first reading:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE TAXING OF ADDITIONAL COSTS IN MUNICIPAL COURT FOR CONVICTIONS ON CHARGES OF PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS AND DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF INTOXICANTS.
Mr. Copeland made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brickell that the rule be suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the second reading. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Snow moved with Mr. Brewer seconding the motion the rule be further suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Cook then moved with Mr. Field seconding the motion that the Ordinance be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Cook made the motion, seconded by Mr. Ebbert that the Emergency Clause be voted on. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. The ordinance was given the number 1027.
Mr. Brickell offered the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION CONDEMNING 609 JEFFERSON STREET
Mr. Brewer made the motion, seconded by Mr. Perry that the Resolution be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried....
