RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN EAST/WEST CORRIDOR ACROSS NORTH ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council has previously, adopted Resolution 1993:23 supporting the proposed "I-66 Feasibility Study," and potential project and;
 
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council wishes to again join with the Executive Committee of the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the Board of Directors, and more than 1,000 members of the Chamber, reinforce our position and;
 
WHEREAS, the I-66 Feasibility Study is moving forward and is designated as a high priority in the 1991 Department of Transportation Appropriation Act and;
 
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council recognizes the importance of such a corridor to improve the efficient transportation of people and goods, which is in the best economic interest of the state and nation and;
 
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council pledges its support and cooperation in the implementation of the East/West Corridor across north Arkansas,
 
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council fully supports and endorses the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Commission and its efforts to secure the Corridor's  route through north Arkansas,
 
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas strongly supports and endorses the establishment of an East/West Corridor across north Arkansas;
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Corridor should be in relationship to U. S. Highways 412, 62, 63, and 67.
