A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF PIERCE MANUFACTURING AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE ENGINE

WHEREAS, the Public Safety Committee and the Finance Committee have reviewed and discussed the staff recommendation of the purchase of a Fire Engine for the Jonesboro Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, consideration was given to the possibility of a lease/purchase agreement, but later determined purchase of the vehicle was more economical than leasing; and
WHEREAS, Pierce Manufacturing being the low bidder priced the vehicle at $365,110.00, and of that amount, $300,000.00 was budgeted for 2005, leaving a balance of $65,110.00; and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Manual for the City of Jonesboro requires approval by the Jonesboro City Council when an item is non-budgeted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro accepts the successful bid of $365,110.00 from Pierce Manufacturing and authorizes the purchase of the Fire Engine.
SECTION 2: That Mayor, Doug Formon and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby
authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents
necessary to effectuate this agreement.
