RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DISCRETIONARY FUND GRANT APPLICATION

WHEREAS, by resolution adopted on February 23, 1975, the City Council authorized the Mayor to submit to the Little Rock Area Office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the Community Development Program; and,
WHEREAS, on the basis of its review of the Pre-application relative to the applications of other Arkansas cities, the HUD Area Office has invited the City of Jonesboro to file a complete application for a grant from the Discretionary Fund not to exceed $300,000 and to be utilized in financing only storm drainage improvements; and,
WHEREAS, in order to assure a competitive application the City Council desires to propose storm drainage improvements most suited to meeting the Community Development Program criteria of benefiting low or moderate income families or aiding in the elimination of or prevention of slums and blight.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
(1) That storm drainage improvements in North Jonesboro amounting to $300,000 are hereby selected for inclusion in the application for a grant under the Discretionary Fund.
(2) That the Mayor be and hereby is authorized to prepare and submit an application with improvements as identified in Paragraph 1.
(3) That it is hereby recognized that the filing of the Discretionary Fund Grant Application as authorized herein will have no effects upon the regular program application for $781,000 that was previously authorized by the City Council through Resolution No.1975-1 adopted on February 17, 1975.
(4) That all assurances, certifications and determinations made on behalf of the City of Jonesboro in resolution 1975-1 adopted on February 17, 1975 are hereby reaffirmed and made a part of this resolution as if same were repeated herein in their entirety.
(5) That this resolution shall take effect immediately.
