AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF TWO USED FIRE TRUCKS FOR THE JONESBORO FIRE DEPARTMENT

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro Fire Department needs to purchase a used 100 foot Arrow XT Platform truck and a used 75 foot Heavy Duty Aluminum Arial truck.
SECTION 2: That said equipment may be obtained from Pro Fire Equipment located in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The total cost of the two used fire trucks will be $1,220,000 minus the trade-in value of $98,200.00 for an E-One truck and a Boardman Ford truck, resulting in a total purchase price of $1,121,800.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accordance with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described services for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the vehicles an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
