CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, MAY 18, 1981

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, May 18 at 7:30 PM Present, Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and all aldermen.

The minutes of May 4 were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Hannah, second by Mr. Stricklin.

Discussion was held on matters of the public hearing at 7:00 P.M., whereby Ms. Judy Henson requested a variance for placing a mobile home on Aggie Road. Mr. Haggenmacher moved the decision of Board of Zoning Adjustment be rejected and a variance be granted for a period of 15 months. Motion seconded by Mr. Sanderson and all council voted nay except Mr. Haggenmacher. Motion failed.

Holiman Equipment 17.17 gal.
Helena Chemical 17.49 gal.
Public Health Equipment 17.82 gal.

Mr. Haggenmacher moved the bid from Helena Chemical be approved because of the convenience of locality. Mr. Hinson seconded the motion and all voted aye.

The following bids were reviewed for a pick-up truck for mosquito control:

O’Neal Ford $7,016.85

Ms. Haigler moved the bid from O’Neal Ford be approved, seconded by Mr. Hannah. Mr. Shelton passed and all others voted aye.

The following bids were reviewed for a mosquito fogger generator:

Public Health Equipment Model H $3,795.00
Model XK 4,245.00
Holiman Equipment LECO MD/CV 4,305.00
LECO MD/CVE 4,320.00
LECO HOW/CVE 4,545.00

Mr. Haigler moved the bid for Model XK from Public Health be approved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, all aye.

Jerry Scott, Parks and Recreation Director, advised council of property available to the City for soccer fields and softball fields. Mr. Shelton moved that the City enter into a lease agreement with the State for 40 acres adjacent to the Arkansas Children’s Colony. Motion seconded by Mr. Hinson and all voted aye.

Mrs. Alta Jacobs, 104 State Street, addressed council concerning placing a mobile home behind her residence for use by relatives. Bill McKnight spoke against ...
