RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE SUPERINTENDENTS OF ALL CRAIGHEAD COUNTY SCHOOLS TO DISPLAY THE NATIONAL MOTTO AT THEIR SCHOOLS

WHEREAS, the United States of America is experiencing difficult times as our citizens cope with the tragedies of September 11, 2001 as a result of terrorist actions against our great nation; and

WHEREAS, the United States continues to experience uncertainties as our government seeks to make the correct decisions regarding this most difficult matter; and

WHEREAS, it is our belief that the prominent display of this motto will assist in maintaining the morale and courage of our students and other citizens as we enter into this new era of coping with the activities of persons who would intentionally harm our people who live in the United States.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jonesboro City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas wish to encourage the Superintendents of all Craighead County Schools to proudly display the National Motto of the United States, “IN GOD WE TRUST” at their schools.  The United States National Motto should be displayed in conjunction with other symbols of American Patriotism and for American Heritage, such as the American Flag.
