RESOLUTION TO DIRECT ARKANSAS LOUISIANA GAS COMPANY TO TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO CORRECT THE NUMEROUS GAS LEAKS IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
WHEREAS, Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company is supplying the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas with natural gas under the terms of a Franchise which it now holds. Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company exclusively pipes natural gas to residences and businesses in the City over and through pipes owned by the Gas Company, and
WHEREAS, for many months the service performed by the Gas Company has been sub-standard causing numerous complaints from the Citizens of the City of Jonesboro in that the Gas Company has failed to repair its gas lines in the City which are dangerous to the Citizens of Jonesboro, and
WHEREAS, the complaints of the gas leaks have been brought to the attention of Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company and they have failed totally and completely to repair, replace or correct these gas leaks.
NOW THREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company is directed to take immediate steps to repair, replace and/or correct the numerous gas leaks in the City of Jonesboro.
SECTION 2: The continued attitude of Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company is ignoring the numerous complaints of its customers and the City of Jonesboro will not be tolerated further by the City Council of Jonesboro.
SECTION 3: It is hereby directed that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City of Jonesboro as the same may be permanently recorded and copy of the resolution be mailed to the Public Services Commission and the Home Office of Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company.
