RESOLUTION TO AGREE TO THE PROVISIONS IN “A PROPOSAL FOR A COMPREHENSIVE STREET AND TRAFFIC PLAN FOR JONESBORO, ARKANSAS” AS SUBMITTED BY THE CITY PLANNING DIVISION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, the City Planning Division, University of Arkansas, in conjunction with the State Highway Department, and in co-operation with the Bureau of Public Roads, has submitted to Jonesboro, Arkansas, a proposal for planning studies, preparation of comprehensive plan for present and future improvement of traffic and parking in the City of Jonesboro, and it is found that the studies and proposals are of great benefit to the City:

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

 

(1)  That the City of Jonesboro accept and agree to the provisions in A PROPOSAL FOR A COMPREHENSIVE STREET AND TRAFFIC PLAN FOR JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, submitted by the City Planning Division, University of Arkansas, November 27, 1959.

 

(2)  That the Mayor and other city officials are authorized and directed to execute an agreement binding the City according to the proposal, copy of which is attached.

 

(3)  That the costs to the City of Jonesboro of such study, not exceeding $7,200.00, be paid from the proceeds of borrowings authorized by Ordinance No.995 adopted November 16, 1959.

 

(4)  That the Mayor, subject to the approval of the City Council, designate a Commission to be known as “Traffic Commission” to consist of two members of the City Council, two members of the City Planning Commission, two members of the Parking Authority, and two members from nominees made by the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, to be an executive planning group, and that the Mayor and the Council, from time to time, designate others to serve on said group or as advisers to same, and that as the studies and plans develop, such group shall report from time to time to the Council, as the Council may direct.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 1959.
