AN ORDINANCE WAIVING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH AQUA CONSTRUCTION INTERNATIONAL (NOTE: THIS CONTRACT HAD A CHANGE ORDER WITH RES-12:073 ON JUNE 19, 2012)

Whereas, the City of Jonesboro recently acquired the YMCA property located on Nettleton Avenue; and
Whereas, the City needs to immediately effectuate repairs in order to complete work before the swimming season ends.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION ONE: The City of Jonesboro hereby waives bidding on said project due to the immediate need to acquire the services to renovate and repair the pool facility and accepts the proposal from AQUA Construction International to complete renovation and repairs for the sum of Five Hundred Seventeen Thousand Dollars ($517,000.00)
SECTION TWO: That Mayor Harold Perrin and City Clerk Donna Jackson are hereby authorized to execute such documents as are necessary to effectuate this agreement.
SECTION THREE: Further, due to the immediate need to complete the renovation and repairs before the swimming season passes, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval.
