The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in regular session on the above named date at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Berry, Rogers, Booker, Stricklin, Snow, Stephens, Copeland, Hendrix, Johnson and Taylor.

Mr. Booker made the motion on the Mayor’s recommendation that the following men be appointed as Parking Authority Board:

Bud Schoenfield, 1 year
Joe Burns, 2 years
J.D. Weatherly, 3 years
James Patrick, 4 years
Beryl Smith, 5 years

Mr. Stephens seconded the motion, roll was called all voting aye.

Mr. Johnson made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that Bob Cameron be granted a permit to open a fixit shop. Roll was called. All aye. Permit granted.

Mr. Copeland made the motion, seconded by Mr. Stephens, that Hugh Harrington be granted a permit to operate a tire repair shop. Roll was called. All voted aye. Permit granted.

Mr. Booker made the motion seconded by Mr. Stricklin that J.C. Penney and Co. be granted permission to build a small building as per specifications to house an air conditioning unit. Roll was called. Nine voting aye, one pass. Permission granted.

Mr. Booker made the motion, seconded by Mr. Berry, that the Booker T. Washington P.T.A. be granted permission to solicit for a period of two weeks for the purpose of buying equipment for the playground. All aye.

Mr. Booker made the motion, seconded by Mr. Berry, that Wes Mooneyham be granted a temporary leave as Chief of Police. Roll called. Nine voting aye. One pass. Motion carried.

Mr. Berry made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that the Council affirm the Mayor’s appointment of Dewitt B. Haynes as temporary acting Chief of Police. Roll called. Eight voting aye, one No and one pass. Motion carried.
