AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 15-87 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CONCERNING PARKING TOO CLOSE TO THE CURB AND OTHER MATTERS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro. Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That Section 15-87 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro is amended to read as follows:

 

No vehicle, unless in an emergency, or to allow another vehicle or pedestrian to cross a street, shall be stopped in any street, except as nears to the right-hand curb thereof as possible, and with front wheels and rear wheels within twelve (12) inches of the curb. Where diagonal parking is provided and in city parking lots, the vehicle shall be wholly within the painted or marked parking lines and no part of any vehicle shall be allowed to project over or across said diagonal lines, and same part of said vehicle shall be not more than twelve (12) inches from the curb.

 

Section 2: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

 

Section 3: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the city parking lots are increasingly in use and that the failure of cars to observe painted directions has contributed to traffic congestion, and therefore, this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 16th day of November, 1981.
