AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: The City Council finds and declares that the condition of traffic is such as to endanger the traveling public and pedestrians within the City of Jonesboro and that certain traffic control devises are needed and are to be placed on the following streets:

One-way street signs are to be placed on Forrest St. beginning from the corner of Church St. and Forrest St., traffic to go West; One-way street signs to be placed on North Main St. beginning from the corner of Forrest St. and North Main St., traffic to go South; One-way street signs to be places on Allen St. beginning from the corner of North Main St. and Allen St., traffic to go East; One-way from the corner of Allen St. and North Church St., traffic to go North.

Section 2: The drivers of all vehicles shall obey all traffic control signs per instruction on the face thereof.

Section 3: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets, at the proper places, appropriate signs designation “One-Way” as set out above, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs or violate the instructions on the face thereof.

Section 4: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $50.00.

Section 5: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that due to increasing traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices, that there is a great possibility that the lack of these traffic control devices will cause danger to life and property...
