AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE A CONTRACT WITH AXON ENTERPRISES, INC FOR THE PURCHASE OF AXON BODY WORN CAMERAS, AXON FLEET CAMERAS, AND SUPPORTING AXON SERVICES

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro Police Department has identified a need for body worn cameras; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has been participating in a body worn camera free trial program that Axon Enterprises has agreed to extend for the remainder of 2018; and
WHEREAS, Axon Enterprises has submitted a sole source letter; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the Axon camera systems and services will be included in the 2019 Operating Budget with no change needed to the 2018 operating budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City of Jonesboro in accordance with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waive the requirement of competitive bidding deeming it unfeasible due to the following: Axon Enterprises is determined to be a sole source provider of the body worn cameras that have been tested and used during the trial period.
SECTION TWO: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
